Spring Cleaning

Warmer weather in the new year means spring is on its way. Here’s what I’ve been up to since the end of 2014 into 2015.

It’s been a busy year for me at the Energy Department. Just this week I had the opportunity to film President Obama. I cut two products of his visit for Facebook and Instagram.

I added another video to Energy’s #WomenInSTEM series. This video features Suzanne Singer, an engineer who works in solar forecasting, and also works to build collaborations between the Energy Department’s National Labs and Native American tribes across the country.

I’m a contributor at DC’s Brightest Young Things (BYT). I recently wrote about a storytelling show with Women Photojournalists of Washington (WPOW). It was an honor to listen to and photograph some of the most talented journalists I’ve ever met.

I ventured into music writing as well for BYT and wrote about Stars and their performance at DC’s 9:30 Club. And I took some awesome pictures at this concert with an artist who performed with an EEG machine hooked to her head!

I volunteer with Knowledge Commons DC which is a free school anyone can attend or volunteer to teach classes with. There’s a wide range of topics. So far I’ve photographed and written about 3D printing, touring unbuilt places in DC, outfitting your apartment without going to Ikea, and doing your taxes by yourself.

I’ve got my pen and my camera ready for whatever adventure comes next. Bring it on 2015.
